During the Cutting Crime Impact (CCI) project, the Department of Interior of Catalonia (INT) set out to tackle outbreaks of perceptions of insecurity. Sudden occurrences of such outbreaks can affect citizens' daily life and coexistence, and sustainable interventions can only be developed by understanding their causes. The Perception Matters tool guides practitioners through the process of analysing and responding to citizens’ perceptions of insecurity.
